Editor's Message
Have you ever felt a calling that you couldn’t ignore? Dared to follow your dreams, no matter
how illogical or unwise they seemed? Friends, my dreams have come calling, and I cannot let
their invitations go unanswered. For almost three years, I’ve had the honor and privilege of
serving as Editor in Chief of this fine publication, and I’ve had the pleasure of running Mango
Life Media along with my friends and highly capable individuals in their own right, David
Averbach and Raphael Burnes.
Taking over a 26-year-old publishing company while we were still in our 20s was an opportunity that David, Raph, and I simply couldn’t pass up, and the last few years have taught us lessons
we could have only learned as entrepreneurs.
When I took over as Editor in Chief, my only previous experience in publishing had
been creating and running a college newspaper for a couple of years, and then serving as iPhone Life’s Associate Editor for less than a year. Like most things in life,
you never fully know what you’re getting into until you jump in with both feet. This
position challenged what I thought I was capable of, and to my pleasant surprise, it
showed me that with hard work and dedication, it’s possible to grow in any field.
Anything significant and worthwhile in life is usually the result of a collective effort—
the product of a dedicated team putting in long hours and endless brainpower.
Our stellar editorial team consists of word wizard Nina Benjamin, content creation machine Donna Schill Cleveland, web czar Sarah Kingsbury, and layout
slayer Jaime Thatcher. (Those are not their official titles, of course, but they
should be!) Their never-ending hard work has made all the content you’ve seen
and read on these pages possible, and I’m humbled and grateful to have shared
this experience with them, along with the rest of the irreplaceable team that
makes up Mango Life Media.
Some of you might be wondering what I’m going to do next. I’m starting an online interview series, interviewing people
who are making the world a better place, and I’ll also be traveling and giving presentations around the country. I’ll still be
creating content for iPhone Life, so you’ll likely see my name on some of the articles in the magazine and on iPhoneLife.
com. Nina Benjamin ( nina@iphonelife.com) and Donna Schill Cleveland ( donna@iphonelife.com) will take over the leadership of the magazine, and I couldn’t be more confident of their proficiency and skill. I’m really excited to see how high
they’ll take this publication. If you have a second, please send them a quick email to say hello and welcome them into
their new roles. As for me, it’s been an unbelievable ride. I’ll miss you, but I hope you’ll stay in touch. You can email me at
