hen is Apple going to give us something new? Yes, everyone is expecting new versions of the iPhone and iPad, in keeping with the company’s customary update schedule, but what we want is a new product category. After years of speculation and rumors, people are beginning to doubt whether Apple still has its creative mojo, and market analysts say that
without a new gadget, Apple’s stock isn’t going skyward anytime soon.
Tim Cook keeps trying to reassure everyone, saying Apple will introduce new product categories. But the masses are impatient, not
having had anything really new since the launch of the iPad in 2010. It’s time for Apple to disrupt yet another industry with a revolutionary device.
Of course, there are rumors aplenty, and a lot of supporting evidence to give them credibility. Apple has, for example, hired a bunch
of experts in the area of health and fitness. They’ve got something up their sleeves. And Tim Cook isn’t talking, apart from his standard line: Yes, something is coming, but we don’t talk about new products ahead of time. We want it to be a surprise.
So here to spoil the surprise is a roundup of Apple’s most persistent rumors, each accompanied by a guess about its accuracy.
