Customize Your Profile
The new Messages Profilefeature makes it easy for you tostand out by sharing your nameand photo when you send atext to a contact. To enable thisfeature, open the Messagesapp. On the top right, tap thethree dots and select Edit Nameand Photo. From here, you canenable Name and Photo Sharing.
The Contacts Only option sharesyour updated profile with yourcontacts automatically. AlwaysAsk will send you a confirmationprompt before sharing your updated profile.
Share Contacts with Friends
The next time someone asksyou to hook them up with yourfavorite landscaper or plumber,you can quickly share the phonenumber, address, and any otherinformation you have saved inyour Contacts. To share a contact card, open the Phone app,then tap the Contacts tab. Select the name of the contact youwant to share. Scroll down andtap Share Contact. Next, youcan share the contact via yourpreferred method such as Messages, Email, or AirDrop.
Make a Face Time Call
If you and your contact both
have iPhones, then you can use
Face Time to start a video chat.
This is great for long businesstrips or for when the grandkidswant to show off a brand-newtoy. First, open the Phone appand tap Contacts. Then, locatethe person you want to call andtap their name. Scroll down partway and tap Face Time to startyour call. If you’re texting acontact, you can also start aFace Time call by tapping thecontact name at the top of themessage thread and thentapping Face Time.
Swipe to Type
All the tapping involved intexting can add up to musclefatigue. Did you know you canswipe instead, right from thesame keyboard? To swipe, placeyour finger on the first letter ofa word, then swipe your fingerthrough the rest of the lettersin that word before lifting yourfinger. A space will appear afterthe word automatically. TheiPhone uses predictive text, soif the wrong word pops up, justtap backspace once. The wordwill be deleted, allowing you totry again.
